Method 1

second term = ( x-2)*3

48=(x-2)*3

48/3=x-2

16=x-2

x=16+2=18

First term =(x-2)*3

18=(x-2)*3

18/3=x-2

6=x-2

x=6+2=8

Method 2

Second term=(48/3)+2=18

First term = (18/3)+2=8

The answer of the first term is 8
