The third term of the A.P = 16
Given that the 7th term exceeds 5th term by 12.
7th term = a + 6d
5th term = a + 4d
Therefore
a + 6d - (a + 4d) = 12
a + 6d - a - 4d = 12
2d = 12
d = 6

The common difference is 6
3rd term = 16
a + 2d = 16
a + 2(6) = 16
a + 12 = 16
a = 4

The first term of the A.P = 4

Hope this helps you.
