Answer:

3rd term of AP = 12

⇒ a + (3-1)d = 12

A + 2d = 12

A = 12 - 2d — (i)

20th term of AP = 182

⇒ a + (20-1)d = 182

A + 19d = 182

A = 182 - 19d — (ii)

Now we compare both the equations:-

Since we know that both the values stand for ‘a’, we can say that they are equal to each other.

12 - 2d = 182 - 19d

19d - 2d = 182 - 12

17d = 170

D = 10

Now we find the value of ‘a’ by substituting the value of ‘d’ in equation (i):-

A = 12 - 2d

A = 12 - 2(10)

A = 12 - 20

A = -8

Now, we find the value of 23rd term:-

Formula = a + (n-1)d

⇒ -8 + (23-1)10

-8 + (22)10

-8 + 220

212 Ans

23rd term of AP = 212

Hope it helps
