The three charges each of 5 × 10–6 coloumb are placed at vertex of an equilateral triangle of side 10cm.

1 micro C is placed at centre of triangle.

To find:

Net force on the centre charge?

Calculation:

First of all, observe the attached diagram.

  • Here you can see the force vector F1, F2 and F3 on charge at centre. And magnitude of F1 = F2 = F3.

  • Now, you can also see that the force vectors are aligned at an angle of 120° to one another.

When 3 forces (of same magnitude) are aligned at 120° to one another, the net resultant comes as zero.

Hence, net force experienced by 1 micro-C charge will be zero.
