Given:-

  • A(3,4)
  • B(6,λ)
  • C(6,4)

To Find:-

  • The Value Of λ

Solution:-

Since, the points A(3,4),B(6,λ) and C(6,4) are colinear

∴∆=0 = x_{1}(y_{2} - y_{3} ) + x_{2}(y_{3} - y_{1} ) + x_{3}(y_{1} - y _{2})

So,

3(λ - 4) + 6(4 - 4) + 6(4 - λ) = 0

 =  > 3λ - 12 + 0 + 24 - 6λ = 0

 =  >  - 3λ + 12 = 0

 =  >  - 3λ =  - 12

 =  > λ =  \frac{ - 12}{ - 3}

 =  > λ = 4

Option a) 4 is the Correct answer
