'The Tiger King' is an excellent example of a humorous story. There are en number of incidents in the story which are quite funny.
The way the tiger king is introduced to the readers is in itself very amusing.
His introduction as His Highness Jamedar- General Khiledar-
Major, Sir Jilani Jung Bahadur amuse the readers and develop their interest in the story. As the king grows up and his mission to kill hundered tigers begins, a number of humorous incidents take place.
The king's belief that he would change his destiny and the astrologer's acceptance of the challenge that he would cut off his tuff, crop his hair and become an insurance agent is quite comic. Even the conversation between the king and the Dewan is an excellent example of humour. The king wanted to marry and the Dewan exhibits his fear to the king by responding in an idiotic and non sensical manner. Finally, the killing of the hundredth tiger [the way it was staged] The dewan and his wife drag the tiger to the car, make it sit on the back seat of the car, drive it to the forest, drags the tiger out of the car[seemed the tiger had enjoyed the ride ] and the tiger bowing in front of the king and offering himself to be shot by his Majesty
And finally fainting from the sound of the bullet and the king celebrating his victory over his destiny is really comic in nature. Even the death of the tiger king is more comic than tragic in nature [ The brave king dies while playing with a wooden toy and the doctors announcment "The operation was successful , The Maharaja is dead "] only makes the story more amusing.
