Explanation:

It is very simple to calculate the time difference between Greenwich and a said Longitude.

Step 1: find the difference between the two given Longitudes .

Step 2: multifunction the difference by

4 minutes.

Step 3: If the given Longitude is to the east of Greenwich then add the calculated minutes to know the local time on that Longitude. If it is to the west dixit these minutes from the given local time,In this case 12noon, to know the local time of that longitude.

Ex.No.1 : The longitudinal difference 0 degrees and 69 degrees East. 69 degrees. 69×4= 276 minutes .276÷ 60=4 hrs 36 minutes.

12 noon + 4 hrs 36 minutes=4 pm past 36 minutes

Ex.2 : Longitudinal difference between

0 Degrees and 30 Degrees West-30 Degrees.

30 ×4 = 120 minutes.12o÷60= 2 hrs.

This being to the west dixit 2 hrs from 12noon on Greenwich.

12- 2=10am. It would be the local time on 30 Degrees Longitude.

Ex.3: Longitudinal difference between

0 degree and 12 Degrees East is 12 Degrees.

12×4=48 minutes.

This is to be added into 12 noon as it is to the east of Greenwich.

So on 12 Degrees East the local time would be 12hrs + 48 minutes

= 12hrs48 minutes.
