The time difference between seeing a flash of gun and hearing is sound is 4.5 s. If the

velocity of sound in air is 330 m/s, how far is the observer?​

To do this sum, you must know how to find the distance when the velocity and time is given. 1.Distance=    Velocity*Time

                       2.Velocity=   Distance/Time

                        3.Time= Distance/Velocity

In your question the first method is to be used.   so if u multiply 4.5 seconds(time) and 330m/s, u will get your answer.
