Time taken by 5 children to complete the job

= 20/5 days

= 4 days

Therefore time taken by 4 men to complete the job = (4 × 2) days

= 8 days.

Time taken by 4 men to complete the job

= (8 × 2) days

= 16 days

Therefore, 5 children's 1 days’ work

= 1/4

4 men’s 1 days’ work = 1/8

4 women's 1 days’ work = 1/16

Therefore (12 men’s + 10 children's + 8 women's)

1 days' work = 3 × (4 men's 1 days' work) + 2 × (5 children's 1 days' work) + 2 (4 women's 1 days' work)

= 3 × 1/8 + 2 × 1/4 + 2 × 1/16

= 3/8 + 1/2 + 1/8 = 8/8 = 1

Therefore required time = 1 day.
