The time taken by the earth to complete one revolution around the Sun is 3.156 × 107

s.

The distance between the earth and the Sun is 1.5 × 1011 m. Find the speed of revolution of the

earth. (G = 6.67 × 10 –11 N·m2

/kg2

, g = 9.8 m/s2

Given data ,

 \: \: \: \: \: \: T = 3.156× 10 ^{7} s \: , \: \\ \\ \: \: \: r = 1.5 \times 10 ^{11} m \: ,

To find ,

 \: \: \: \: \: \: v \: = \: ?

solution,

We know that,

  \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: V\: = \frac{2\pi \: r}{T} \\ \\ ∵ V = \frac{2 ×3.142 × 1.5 × 10¹¹m}{3.16 \times 10 ^{7}s } \\ \\ \\ V \: = \frac{9.4260 \times 10 ^{11}m }{3.152 \times 10 ^{7}s } \\ \\ V \: = 2.987 \times 10 ^{4} m/s \: \ \\ \\ i.e., \: \: \: \: \: \: \: V \: = 29.87km/s</p><p>

∵ This is the speed of revolution of the earth.
