Given:-

  • A tip of pin has an area of 0.001 cm².
  • A force of 100N is applied over it.

To Find:-

  • The pressure exerted by the force.

Formula Used:-

We know that pressure is equal to thrust by area or just simply force by area , i.e. :

\large{\underline{\boxed{\red{\tt{\dag Pressure=\dfrac{Force}{Area} }}}}}

Answer:-

it is given that the tip of a drawing pin has an area of 0.001 cm² and a force of 100 newton is applied over it and we are required to find the pressure exerted by the force.

Here , first let's convert area into SI unit which is m².

Now we know 1m² = 10,000cm² i.e. 1cm² = 1/10,000m²

So 0.001cm² = 0.001 × 1/10⁴m² = 1/10³ m² × 1/10⁴ m².

= 1/10⁷ m² = \sf{10^{-7}m^2}

Also force = 100N .

Now putting the respective values in the above formula stated:-

\sf{\implies Pressure (P) = \dfrac{100N}{10^{-7}m^2}}

\sf{\implies Pressure = 100\times 10^7 Pa}

\underline{\boxed{\red{\bf{\leadsto Pressure=10^9 Pa}}}}

Hence the pressure is 10 Pascal .
