Chandragupta II was also known as Vikramaditya. He was ‘one of the most’ popular and powerful kings of the Gupta Empire. He had taken over from his father Samudragupta.  

He had won over the ‘territories of Sakas’ from Malwa, Gujarat as well as Saurashtra. Due to this reason he was awarded the title of ‘Sakari’ which means conqueror of states. During his reign the ‘Gupta Empire’ had reached its highest point of glory.
