Explanation:
The poetess, Kamla Das was returning home after visiting her mother. The mother was accompanying her to see off at the airport.
While driving to the airport, the mother dozed off. The poetess realized, her mother had grown very old. She shuddered at the thoughts that passed her mind at that time.
The painful thoughts about her mother’s imminent death haunted her mind. She tried to divert her mind by looking out of the car. She saw the trees and children running happily.
At the airport, she went through the security check post. The mother was to stay back. Again she looked at her mother who was looking very weak and pale.
Her old painful thoughts about death flooded her mind again. Masking her fear, grief and pain with an artificial smile; she said goodbye to her mother saying she would come soon to meet her.
