The total cost of 2 pencils, 5 erasers and 7 sharpeners is Rs.30, while 3 pencils and 5 sharpeners cost Rs.15 more than 6 erasers. By what amount (in Rs.) does the cost of 39 erasers and 1 sharpener
exceed the cost of 6 pencils?
(1) 20 (2) 30 (3) It does not exceed (4) Cannot be determined; The total cost of 2 pencils, 5 erasers and 7 sharpeners is Rs.30, while 3 pencils and 5 sharpeners cost Rs.15 more than 6 erasers. Hello mate here is your answer,

Since we aren't aware about the cost of pencil, eraser and sharpener, Lets give them some random variable value:

=> Pencil = x (number we chosen 2,36)

=> Eraser = y (number we chosen 5,6,5,6,39,39)

=> Sharpener = z ( 7,5,1,7,5,1 )

=> Now we can form the equation with following variable and numbers::

=> 2x(2) + 5y(1) + 7z(3) = 30 (this is total cost)

=> 3x(2) + 5z(3) = 15 + 6y(1) ( exceeded cost )

Now we can these some value to evaluate the equation.

x = 2, y = 1, z = 3( if we swap the values)

in first equation we get 30 & 2nd equation 21

Finding amount exceeded 39 erasers 1 sharpener amount

39(y) + z =42

39(1) + 3 = 42

cost of 6 pencil = 6x = 6(2) = 12

difference

42-12 = 30

hope this helps you
