Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The total cost of five oranges is 5 rupees more than twice the total cost of five lemons.

To find:-

Take suitable variables for each item and form a linear equation in two variable .Plot the straight line formed. (Graph paper is not necessary)

Solution:-

Let the cost of one lemon be Rs. X

Let the cost of one orange be Rs. Y

Total cost of 5 lemons = 5×X = Rs. 5X

Total cost of 5 oranges = 5×Y = Rs. 5Y

Given that

The total cost of five oranges is 5 rupees more

than twice the total cost of five lemons.

=> 5Y = 2(5X)+5

=> 5Y = 10X+5

=> 5Y = 5(2X+1)

=> 5Y/5 = 2X+1

=> Y = 2X+1

=> 2X+1-Y = 0

=> 2X-Y+1 = 0

Graph:-

The points (0,1),(1,3),(2,5)...

Scale : On X-axis 1 cm = 1 unit

On Y-axis 1 cm = 1 unit

Observations:

The graph of the linear equation in two variables is a straight line.

Answer:-

The required linear equation in two variables is 2X-Y+1 = 0

Used formulae:-

  • A linear equation has two variables is called a Linear equation in two variables.
  • The standard linear equation in two variables is ax+by+c = 0
  • A Linear equation in two variables has infinitely number of many solutions .
