let, cost of one chair= x

also cost of one table= y

now, cost of three chairs and four tables= 2200

3x + 4y =2200

also 2x + 5y = 2400

multiply ( 3x + 4y = 2200) ×2 = 6x +8y =4400 ----1

(2x + 5y = 2400) ×3 = 6x + 15y = 7200 ------2

subtract equ. 1 from 2

7y=2800

y = 2800/7

= 400

on putting y =400 in equ 1,

x= 200

therefore, cost of one chair is 200.
