Answer:

value of first price is 400

Step-by-step explanation:

let x,y and z be the 3 prize value.

given, y = (1/2)*x   => x = 2y  ----- (1)

  also, z = (3/4)*x  => 3x = 4z

ie., 3(2y) = 4z

  => 3y = 2z

  => z = (3/2)y  --------- (2)

given, x+y+z = 900

=> 2y + y + (3/2)y = 900     ( by (1) and (2) )

=> 3y + (3y/2) = 900

=> (6y +3y)/ 2 = 900

=> 9y = 2*900

=> y = 2*100

=> y = 200

=> value of first price ,  x = 2y             ( by (1) )

                                => x = 2(200)

                                => x = 400
