Answer :-

Cost of a table is Rs.165 and cost of a chair is Rs. 125.

Solution :-

Let the cost of a chair be Rs. x

Cost of a table = Rs. 40 more than a chair = Rs. (x + 40)

Cost of 3 tables = 3 * cost of one table = 3(x + 40) = Rs. (3x + 120)

Cost of 2 chairs = 2 * Cost of one chair = 2 * x = Rs. 2x

Given

Total cost of 3 tables and 2 chairs = Rs. 745

⇒ Cost of 3 tables + Cost of 2 chairs = 745

⇒ (3x + 120) + 2x = 745

⇒ 3x + 120 + 2x = 745

⇒ 5x + 120 = 745

⇒ 5x = 745 - 120

⇒ 5x = 625

⇒ x = 625/5

⇒ x = 125

i.e Cost of a chair = Rs. 125

Cost of a table = (x + 40) = (125 + 40) = Rs. 165

Therefore cost of a table is Rs.165 and cost of a chair is Rs. 125.

 Let the cost of 1 chair be x.

So the cost of 1 table will be x+40.

Then the equation will be,

2x+3(x+40)

2x+3x+120=745

5x+120

5x=745-120

x=625/5=125

Cost of 1 chair=Rs.125

Therefore cost of 2 chairs=2×125=250

cost of 1 table

=x+40

=125+40

=165

cost of 3 tables=3×165=495

Hence the total cost, Rs.250 + Rs.495 = Rs.745
