Solution-

Length of the red ribbon=30 6/8 m.={(30*8)+6}/8=246/8

The Part that has been cut=15 3/5 m={(15*5+3)}/5=78/5

Let us first make the denominators equal so that we can compare them.

LCM of 8 & 5=40

246/8*5/5=1230/40 & 78/5*8/8=624/40.

Now, let us subtract to get the length of the cloth left.

\frac{1230-624}{40} m\\=\frac{606}{40} m\\=15.15m

Answer=

15.15 m
