In any chemical reaction taking place mass is constant, that is , the mass of reactants is equal to the mass of the resultant products. Though there is formation of new substances the  mass cannot change in both sides. The term used to state the  condition mentioned above is called conservation of mass ,meaning the original mass is conserved.
