Correct Question

The total number of lions and peacocks in a certain zoo is 50 and the total numbers of their legs is 140 then find the number of lions and peacocks in the zoo.

Answer

Number of Lions = 20 and number of Peacocks = 30

Explanation

Let the total number of Lions in the zoo be "x" and Peacocks be "y".

According to question, their are two equation

First one is x + y = 50 and Second one is 4x + 2y = 140

CASE (1)

The total number of Lions and Peacocks in a certain zoo is 50.

→ x + y = 50

→ x = 50 - y

CASE (2)

Total number of Lions and Peacocks legs in the zoo is 140.

We know that Lion has 4 legs and Peacock has 2 legs. So, equation will be

→ 4x + 2y = 140

Take 2 as common from both sides

→ 2(2x + y) = 2(70)

2 throughout cancel. So,

→ 2x + y = 70

Now, substitute value of x from above

→ 2(50 - y) + y = 70

→ 100 - 2y + y = 70

→ - y = 70 - 100

→ y = 30

Substitute value of y in x

→ x = 50 - 30

→ x = 20

Therefore, number of Lions in the zoo is 20 and Peacocks is 30.

Correct Question :-- the total number of lions and peacocks in a certain zoo are 50 and the total numbers of their legs are 140 .. Then find the number of lions and peacocks in the zoo ?

Solution (1) :-

Lets Try it with Basic Method First .

Let their were x Number of lions in the zoo, and y number of Peacocks .

We know that, Lions have 4 legs and peacock have 2 legs.

So, we have now,

x + y = 50 ------------------- Equation (1)

4x + 2y = 140 -------------- Equation (2)

Multiplying Equation (1) by 2 now, And than , subtracting it From Equation (2) we get,

(4x+2y) - 2(x+y) = 140 - 2*50

→ 4x + 2y - 2x - 2y = 140 - 100

→ 2x = 40

→ x = 20 .

Putting This value in Equation (1) now, we get,

20 + y = 50

→ y = 50 - 20

→ y = 30.

Hence, we can say that Their were 20 Lions in the zoo , and 30 Peacocks.

Solution (2) :-

|| ✰✰ Shortcut Trick ✰✰ ||

Question is Always of Animals with 4 legs and 2 legs.

So, we can use :--

☛ Total Number of Four Legs Animals :-

||✪[ Total Legs - 2(Total Heads) ] / 2 ✪||

_________________________________

We have , Total Legs = 140 ,

Total Heads = 50 .

Putting values in Formula we get,

Total Lions = [ 140 - 2*50 ] /2

➠ Total Lions = (140 - 100)/2

➠ Total Lions = 40/2

➠ Total Lions = 20 .

So, we have , Peacocks = 50 -20 = 30 .

Hence, we can say that Their were 20 Lions in the zoo , and 30 Peacocks.
