Step-by-step explanation:

Current Average (A) = 900 / x , where x is the number of wickets taken till date.

After the last match, Average = A + 4 = (900 + 256)/(x + 4)

So A + 4 = 1156/(x+4)

or 4 + 900/x = 1156/(x+4)

or 1 + 225/x = 289/(x+4)

Rearranging:

x^2 - 60x + 900 = 0

(x - 30)^2 = 0

So x = 30
