The total number of students in a college is 13, 200.
If the number of male students increased by 30%
and the number of female students increased by
20% in a year and after the increase total number
of students in the college is 16,440, what is the
difference between the initial number of male and

suppose number of male student =X

then number of female student = 13200-x

after increased

male = x+ 30x/100

= 13x/10

female= x+20x/100

= 6x/5

there are 16440 students in college after the increasing of students so--

total student = 13x/10 + 6x/5= 16440

=( 13x +6x × 2)/10=16440

= 25x/10= 5x/2= 16440

x=16440×2/5= 3288×2= 6576 male student

hence there were

x = 6576 male student in initial

13200-6576= 6624 female student

so difference = 6624-6576= 24
