so x + y = 60.........1

now we know that goats have FOUR legs and hens have TWO

so 4x + 2y = 190........... 2

multiple eq. 1 by 2 we get

2x + 2y = 120...........3

subtracting eq 3 from 2 we get

2x = 70

x = 35

so number of goats is 35

number of hens is 25
