LET THE NUMBER OF 100RS PRIZE = y

THEREFORE x + y = 200. (1)

and,

500 × x + 100 × y = 500000

500x + 100y = 500000

5x + y = 5000. (2) ( dividing both sides by 100 )

5x + y - x - y = 5000 - 200

4x = 4800

x = 1200

y = -1000

let number of ₹500 prizes=A,

then

number of ₹100 prizes=200-A,

now according to the question, we get

500×A+100×(200-A)=50000,

500A+20000-100A=50000,

400A=500000-20000,

400A=30000,

then

A=30000/400,

A=75,

therefore

number of ₹500 prizes=75,

number of ₹100 prizes=200-75=125
