Given,
T. S. A of cylinder= 220cm^2
height of cylinder= 6.5cm
To find,
Volume=?
Solution,
TSA of cylinder= 2pie*r(r+h)
220=2 pie* r(r+6.5)
r(r+6.5)= 220/2pie
=110/pie
= 35.01
r^2+6.5r=35.01
r^2+6.5r-35.01=0
By using Quadratic Formula (You can also use middle term split), We get
D= b^2-4ac
=(6.5)^2-4(1*(-35.01))
= 42.25- 4(-35.01)
=42.25+ 140.04
=182.29
Now,
r=-b+- root D/2a
=-6.5 + 13.50/2 or - 6.5- 13.50/2
=6.5/2 or - 6.5-13.50/2(negative answer is not possible)
So r= 6.5/2
=3.25cm
Now volume of Cylinder= Pie*r^2*h
=22*3.25*3.25*6.25/7
= 207.47cm^3
