TSA=330cm^2

D=10 cm

2r=10

r=10/2=5cm

TSA=2πr(r+h)

2(22/7)(5)(5+h)=330

(220/7)(5+h)=330

5+h=330(7)/220

5+h=2310/220

5+h=231/22

5+h=10.5

h=10.5-5

h=5.5 cm

Question

  1. The total surface area of a cylinder of diameter 10 cm is 330 cm^2. Find the height of the cylinder.

Solution

 Given, diameter of the cylinder = 10 cm

{\sf{=> Its \: radius \: = \dfrac{10}{2} cm =5cm}

{\sf{Total \: surface \: area \: of \: the \: cylinder=2 \pi r(h+r)}

{\sf{=> 2 \pi r(h+r)=330}

{\sf{=> 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7} \times 5 \times (h+5)=330}

{\sf{=>h+5=330 \times \dfrac{7}{ 2 \times 22 \times 5}=10.5}

 ⇒ h = 10.5 cm - 5 cm = 5.5 cm

                      ⁂ The height of the cylinder = 5.5 cm
