Science is the sum of all human knowledge: a cumulative resource that aims to be a universally correct, objective interpretation of the universe around us, its functioning and manipulation to achieve specific goals.

The tradition of science is a continuously evolving one; science never stagnates. Previous knowledge is continuously tested as newer one acquired, and old theories that do not stand the test of time are discarded. To be deemed scientifically correct, knowledge needs to be verified by experiment.

The social function of science is immensely pronounced. Science has always served the society. Be it advancements in medical technology or the creation of newer media channels, science endeavors to make human life healthier, more comfortable and rewarding. It dispels illusions and superstitions. Science, while shaping the society, is also continually shaped by the society itself as well.

In the end, it must be remembered, science is a great slave but a bad master. Used righteously, science is the best gift to the society. Used without moral restraint, though, it can be the biggest curse.
