Explanation:

▶Distance is the length of the path covered by an object.

▶The distance travelled by a body per unit time is called speed.

▶In the following question we have to find out the speed of the train and compare that which train is faster.

⛧To find out the speed we have to use the formula .

Speed=distance/time

▶So Distance covered by 1st train = 120 km.

Time taken =3 hrs

Speed =120/3

= 40 km/hr.

Now ..

▶Distance covered by 2nd train = 180 km

Time Taken = 4hrs.

Speed = 180/4

= 45km/ hr

▶By comparison we have

45 km/hr >40 km /hr

▶So ,the train that travelled a distance of 180 km in 4 hrs had moved faster as compared to the train that travelled a distance of 120 km in 3 hrs.

Given:-

  • Distance travelled by train 'A' (d) = 120km

  • Time taken (t) = 3hrs

  • Distance travelled by train'B' (d) = 180km

  • Time taken (t) = 4hrs

To Find:-

  • Which train travelled faster .

Solution:-

As we know that

→ Speed = Distance/Time

Speed For train 'A'

→ S = d/t

→ S₁ = d₁/t₁

Substitute the value we get

→ S₁ = 120/3

→ S₁ = 40km/h --------------------(i)

The speed of train 'A' is 40km/h

Now ,

Speed For Train 'B'

→ S₂ = d₂/t₂

→ S₂ = 180/4

→ S₂ = 45km/h -------------------------(ii)

The speed of train 'B' is 45km/h

Comparing equation (i) & (ii) we get

The speed of train'B' is higher than the speed of train 'A'

The Train 'B' travelled faster
