Given info : The train is 62 cm long and travels at a speed of 18cm/s. It takes 4 seconds for the whole of the train to cross a bridge.

To find : Calculate the length of the bridge.

solution : let the length of the bridge is x cm.

here when the train cross the bridge, distance covered by it = length of train + length of bridge = 62cm + x cm

speed = distance covered by train/time taken

⇒18 cm/s = (62 + x)/4

⇒18 × 4 = 62 + x

⇒72 = 62 + x

⇒x = 10 cm

Therefore the length of the bridge is 10cm.
