The transport number(t) is defined as the fraction of total current carried by the particular ionic species in the solution. in a simple case of a single electrolyte yielding the ions designated by the suffixes (+) and (-), the corresponding transference numbers are given as follows t₊ = q₊/q, where q₊ is the quantity of electrolyte carried by the cation and q is the total quantity of electricity carried by all ions through the solution.
