The area of the triangle formed by the points (0,-1), (-2, 0), (-1,-3) is 5/2 square units.

We have to find the area of the triangle formed by the points A (0,-1), B (-2,0) and C (-1,-3).

Area of the triangle is given by = (1/2) [x₁(y₂-y₃) + x₂(y₃-y₁) + x₃(y₁-y₂)]

where,

x₁ = 0

x₂ = -2

x₃ = -1

y₁ = -1

y₂ = 0

y₃ = -3

Replacing the values, we get

Area = (1/2) [0(0+3)  -2(-3+1) -1(-1-0)]

=  (1/2) [0 -2(-2) -1(-1)]

= (1/2) [0 +4 +1]

= 5/2 square units
