Kunavaram is a village in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
Many tribal communities live in the hill tracts of this region. Knavaram is a tribal village.
Most of the riverside villages between Bhadrachalam and kunavaram are now inhabited.
The habitations are far from each other separated by three to five kilometers. These tribes build machans and guard the fields against wild animals and birds until the harvest is over.
The main crop of these tribes is Jowar. The major crops raised by them are killers, korralu, pulses, vegetables, etc.
The tribal calendar is marked by various reasons for collecting various edible fruits, tubers, buts, green leaves, and even for hunting small animals.
Bamboo's are abundant in the forest. There are no rivers or wells so very difficult to gain water.
These hill tribes are very few in number but they follow a pattern of life which is very ancient.
