The Truman Doctrine (1947) committed to supporting countries - mainly Greece and Turkey, that were threatened by Communism from the Soviets, through economic aid.  

The Eisenhower Doctrine (1957), however, committed to support those countries in the Middle-East, from communist threat, by providing military support.
