here is your answer
Watt: 1 J/s
====>
5000 hp * 745.7 watt = 3,728,500 J/s
That is equal to the useful potential energy of the water at the top
===>
3,728,500/.85 = 4,386,470.588 J/s Actual PE at top
PE = MGH
4,386,470.588 = M*9.8m/s*50m
M = 8,952 kg of water per second
M = 537,119 kg of water per minute
Check my math
akarsh209:
why. 85 is divided..... shouldn't it be multiplied as we have to find 85% of the power developed
