Two applications of distillation are:-

i)The most widely used industrial applications of continuous, steady-state fractional distillation are in petroleum refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants and natural gas processing plants.

ii)The distillation process is used to separate components based on their boiling points. Chemicals like common gas, diesel, and jet fuel achieve their boiling points at different temperatures

Answer:

Distillation is a widely used method for separating mixtures based on differences in the conditions required to change the phase of components of the mixture. To separate a mixture of liquids, the liquid can be heated to force components, which have different boiling points, into the gas phase.

It's uses are:-

1. It can be used to separate Sugar and Water as an alternative to Evaporation(Evaporation causes chemical changes in Sugar).

2. The most widely used industrial applications of continuous, steady-state fractional distillation are in petroleum refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants and natural gas processing plants.

Hope this helps.
