The two boys are on opposite sides of a tower of 100 mts height. They measure the angle of elevation of the top of the tower as 30° and 45° respecitvely. Find the distance through which the boys are separated.

Let BD=x, BC=y

From ABD tan 45=100/x

1=100/x, x=100

From ABC, tan30=100/y

1/√3=100/y

Therefore , CD=BC+BD=x+y

100+100√3=100(1+√3)
