Detailed Solution:

Well, it's a pretty basic question.

Let the third side be x

and other two equal sides as y

We know x= 2y -5

Perimeter = 55 m

x+x+y = 55

Substituting value of x

and we get two side values as 21 metres and other side as 13 metres

Answer:

Two equal sides are 21 meters long and the side is 13 meters long.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the two equal sides be x and the third side be y.

x= 2y-5

x=2y-5 (Since 2 sides are equal)

Perimeter = 55m

x+x+y = 55m.

2x+y = 55m.--------------------------------------------(1)

Substitute x in eqn. (1)

2*(2y-5) +y = 55

4y-10+y = 55

5y -10 =55

5(y-2) = 5*11

LHS and RHS 5 gets ruled off.

y-2 = 11

y = 11+2 = 13 meters.

Now, Substitute y in x,

x = 2y - 5

x = 2*(13) - 5

x = 26 -5

x = 21 meters.

Therefore, two sides of the triangle are 21 meters and the side of the triangle is 13 meters.

Check:-

Now, if we add all the three sides, we must get 55 meters.

21+21+13 = 55 meters.

Hence our answer is correct!!
