The two lenses of a compound microscope are of focal lengths 2 cm and 5 cm. If an object is placed at a distance of 2.1 cm from the objective of focal length 2 cm the final image forms at the least distance of distinct vision of a normal eye. Find the magnifying power of the microscope

Power of lens 1= 1/f=1/2/100=100/2=50 D

Power of lens 2= 1/f=1/5/100=100/5=20 D

WE know that powers are added to get the final power

so,

Final power= P1+p2

                   = 50 D + 0 D

                  = 70 D
