THE TWO MACHINES
A man recently bought two Machines, but
afterwards found that they would not answer the
purpose for which he wanted them. So he sold
them for Rs.6000 each, making a loss of 20 per cent
on one machine and a profit of 20 per cent on the
other.
Did he make a profit on the whole transaction, or a
loss? And how much?

Answer:
loss of rs500
Step-by-step explanation:
sp of first=cp+profit
6000=cp+20/100*cp
cp=6000*100/120=5000
sp of second =cp-loss.
6000=cp-20/100*cp
=6000*100/80=7500
total cp=5000+7500=12500
sp=2*6000=12000
loss=cp-sp
=12500-12000
=500
