The two numbers are in ratio 5:3, if they differ by 18 what are the numbers?

Answer:

Let x be common ratio

∴ numbers will be 5x and 3x respectively.

Difference between these numbers ⇒18

5x−3x=18

2x=18

Divide both sides by 2.

2/2x = 2/18

x=9

∴ First number =5x=5×9=45

Second number =3x=3×9=27
