Given:

(a, 2b) and (3 – b, a + 2)

Lets equate ;

a=3-b -----  1

a+2=2b -----  2

from 2

a=2b-2 (now substitute this in 1)

so;  

2b-2=3-b

2b+b = 5

3b = 5

b = 5/3 ----- 3  (substitute in 1 or 2 )

then we get

a=4/3
