Given:

• The two parallel sides of a trapezium = 50 m and 20 m
• The altidue of the trapezium = 50 m

To Find:

• The area of the trapezium.

Solution:

The formula to find the area of the trapezium is given by,

Area of trapezium = 1/2(sum of parallel sides)×(perpendicular distance between them)

On substituting the given values in the above formula we get,

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1/2(50+20)×(50) {adding the terms in the bracket}

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1/2(70)×(50)

On multiplying the terms and dividing the same by two we get,

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1750 $cm^2$

∴ The area of the trapezium = 1750 $cm^2$
