Let in ∆ABC, BC = 5 cm and AC = 12 cm.

Therefore,

  • By Pythagoras theorem,

(AB)² = (BC)² + (AC)²

=> (AB)² = (5)² + (12)²

=> (AB)² = 5 × 5 + 12 × 12

=> (AB)² = 25 + 144

=> (AB)² = 169

Now,

(AB)² = 169

AB × AB = 13 × 13

=> Or AB = 13 Cm

Therefore,

  • Length of the hypotenuse = 13 cm.
