Answer:

A derived unit is called so because it is the product of two more basic units. The basic unit of area is the cubic meter (m³) for volume. By derived unit, it refers to any given quantity which cannot be measured directly with any device. For eg., We can't measure density of a substance with a rule, or scale, or bucket.

Area is always Unit sqaure

For example- Length of a square is 10 cm (Given)

Area = 10cm x 10cm (Side^2)

So 10 x 10 = 100

And cm x cm = cm^2

So the answer becomes 100 cm^2
