Concept

A vector is a unit of measurement with both magnitude and direction. A unit vector is a vector with magnitude 1. Another name for it is a direction vector.

Given

The direction of the vector is A = 2i - 2j + k

Find

We need to find the unit vector

Solution

To find the unit vector we have to find magnitude first

Magnitude of Vector =

 \sqrt{(2)^{2} +  {( - 2})^{2}  + (1) ^{2} }

= 3

Now the Unit vector is Direction of vector / Magnitude of Vector

=( 2i-2j+k)/3

Hence the unit vector is (2i-2j+k)/3
