if there is more unity between the two religions there will be less chances to set a rule or a trading post......
this will lead to a big threat to British government
but,
our kingdoms has led to disunity between them by following the British's divide and rule policy.......
this led to 200 years of colonial rule of the British in our country (India)

The British worked on the policy of divide and rule from beginning. They practically knew that breaking a larger units into fragments is the first step to turn anything into gravel.
This was what they tried and did in India.
India had Muslims and Hindus as the two major religions of the country. These lived unified in the society and not as what the British wanted them to live like, seperate. In order to win over India its breaking into fragments was necessary because British knew as long as India stayed united they won't be able to get hold over the subcontinent.
