this is because the atomic no of Potassium is 19 and the rule says the last electrons will be not more than the 8 and if the no. of electrons are more 8 then it will be written in the form of 8,8 or the last electronic configuration will be the last shell's electron.

Adi3097: Wrong
Adi3097: It will be 2,8,18,32,32,6,2.
RosAnk: no
RosAnk: the formula is 2n²
RosAnk: it will be like 2,8,18,32,32,8
Adi3097: No
Adi3097: The Fermium has atomic number 100
Adi3097: it comes in 7th row
Adi3097: Your answer 2,8,18,32,32,8 is of 6 numbers
Adi3097: This element should have 7 shells

The electronic configuration of potassium is 2,8,8,1 .
This is because the potassium comes in 4th row.
The electronic configuration of an element also depends upon , to which row does the element belongs.

Potassium is in 4th row , So its atom will distribute in 4 shells.
