$\frac{3x + 4}{2x + 1} = \frac{x - 8}{2x - 5}$

By cross multiplication

(3x+4)(2x-5)=(x-8)(2x+1)

6x²-15x+8x-20=2x²+x-16x-8

6x²-2x²-15x+8x-x+16x-20+8=0

4x²+8x-12=0

4x²+12x-4x-12

4x(X+3)-4(X+3)

(X+3)(4x-4)

X= -3, 1
