This is the method using Distributive property of Multiplication

 \frac{1}{5} ( \frac{1}{5}  +  \frac{3}{10} ) \\ \\  = (\frac{1}{5}  \times  \frac{1}{5} ) \:  +  \: ( \frac{1}{5}  \times  \frac{3}{10} ) \\  \\ = ( \frac{1 \times 1}{5 \times 5} ) + ( \frac{1 \times 3}{5 \times 10} ) \\  \\ = \frac{1}{25}  +  \frac{3}{50} \\  \\ = ( \frac{1 \times 2}{25 \times 2} )  +  \frac{3}{50}  \\  \\ = \frac{2}{50}  +  \frac{3}{50}  \\  \\ = \frac{2 + 3}{50}  \\  \\ = \frac{5}{50}  \: if \: we \: simplify \: than \\  \\ = \frac{1}{10}

And

This is the method using BODMAS Rule

 \frac{1}{5}  \times ( \frac{1}{5}  +  \frac{3}{10} ) \\  \\ = { \frac{1}{5} } \times (( \frac{1 \times 2}{5 \times 2} ) +  \frac{3}{10} ) \\  \\ = \frac{1}{5}  \times  (\frac{2}{10}  +  \frac{3}{10} ) \\  \\ = \frac{1}{5 }  \times  (\frac{2 + 3}{10} ) \\  \\ = \frac{1}{5}  \times  \frac{5}{10}  \\  \\ = \frac{1 \times 5}{5 \times 10}  \\  \\ = \frac{5}{50}  \: if \: we \: simplify \: then \\  \\ = \frac{1}{10}

Do with whichever method you want...

  1. Method 1 is using Distributive Property of Multiplication
  2. Method 2 is simply using BODMAS Rule
